Reading an article on Spine Health I ran across a quote that stated,”One must exercise great caution in distinguishing between Constructive Criticism and a simple Opinion, as well as placing an appropriate value on each.”

Often times we may notice how others misconstrue their opinions as constructive criticism  and constructive criticism as opinions; leaving all parties involved with no way to properly talk through a situation. If you look up the definition of the word Opinion you might find:

“A view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.”or “An estimate of quality or worth of someone or something.”

We allow other opinions shape the person we become in the mist of trying not to live up to that formed opinion by doing the polar opposite. It becomes something like a game of Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better; it’s as if we are placing our Value in the other persons hands because he/she is judging us. I like to view the opinions of others as a critique * a concept we use in dance;we have to watch our dance brothers and sisters for mistakes commonly made and correcting each other instead of the instructor*. When casting judgement upon others we see a mirror image of our selves. This is why it is important to not let the opinions of others affect you in a negative way. Opinions often times aren’t factual lacking true knowledge leaving zero room to judge.

So who opinion matters??!!! Well when you change your Perspective your opinion matters:

“Point of View” or “The ability to understand what is important and what isn’t”

When looking at the opinion of others we must reevaluate the role that persons plays in our lives. Often times we forget our paths rarely cross with many of these people; we should look to the people who have our best interest at heart because they will give Constructive Criticism:

“criticism or advice that is useful and intended to help or improve something, often with an offer of possible solutions”

When our loved ones give us constructive criticism we have to be receptive; it is always good to take something positive away that way it shapes you to be a better person. There is always room for growth no matter where you are in life; the best way to grow is being able to understand and overstand life experiences through not only your eyes but through the lives of others as well.

No one said you had to live up to the opinions or expectations of others!!! Staying focused you always key. No matter whether it is just a simple opinion or constructive criticism there is always a lesson to be learned. We can always be appreciative of life lessons we change the way we view things. Each encounter we have with one another it is important to remember we each have the potential to pour positive or negative energy into someone else. Using all these opinions for motivation makes room for growth and a major Glow Up.
